Booroowa, south of Sydney, became a second Tipperary. The biggest concentration of Irish descent today is to be found in the eastern states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and, of course, Tasmania. Western Australia comes second on the list, while South Australia has relatively few. Clare men figured prominently in the gold rush, and many an Australian tooday can boast of a grandfather from a town such as Ennis, County Clare . . . .
